What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy, often referred to as "talking therapy," is a form of counselling that helps individuals navigate through life's challenges and emotional struggles. It provides a safe and confidential space for people to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours with the guidance of a trained professional called a psychotherapist.

What happens during a therapy session?

In psychotherapy sessions, you and I will engage in open conversations about your concerns, emotions, and experiences. I will be actively listening and curious, asking questions, and offering insights to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your circumstances.

What is the purpose of Psychotherapy?

The primary goal of psychotherapy is to promote positive change and growth in the individual. By gaining insight into your thoughts and behaviours, you can develop healthier coping mechanisms, improve relationships, and find new ways to manage stress and emotional challenges.

Duration of therapy

The duration of psychotherapy varies depending on the individual and their unique circumstances. Some people may find relief in a few sessions, while others may choose to engage in longer-term therapy for ongoing support and growth.

Types of therapy

Psychotherapists can be trained in many different types of therapy such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Person Centered Approach, Psychodynamic therapy, Humanistic therapy and Transactional Analysis therapy.
